Philippa is a playwright and stage manager from Edinburgh, who is now based in Cardiff. In 2010, she won the BBC Scotland Radio Drama – Finding New Dramatic Voices competition and was mentored by the Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland. Philippa completed an MA in Writing for Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2013. She co-produced View From Here Festivals of New Writing in association with Theatre503 between 2016 and 2018. She developed her solo show Trench with Pleasance Theatre, London.
In addition to producing her own work, Philippa has worked as production manager, technical stage manager and project co-ordinator, with a special focus on site-specific theatre and outdoor arts. She has worked with Greenwich Theatre, Actors Touring Company, Nutkhut, Papercut Theatre, Welsh National Opera, Wise Children, Arts Active, Dante or Die, Wales Millennium Centre, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, University of Wales: Trinity St David, Sherman Theatre and The Other Room, Cardiff.
RECENT STAGE MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL CREDITS
I am a freelance stage manager with a varied experience of production co-ordination and production management, especially in new writing, devised work, R&D and site-specific/site-responsive theatre. I have experience of working with lighting, sound, props, projection and captioning; and I am adaptable, resourceful and ready to learn on the fly for many roles at short notice. I am passionate about championing and realising ideas from R&D to full production, with a strong base in problem solving, systemic troubleshooting, scheduling, logistics, health and safety and people management on small-scale to mid-scale theatre shows and UK tours.
